Wedding Themes & Styling by Bula Bride

Plantation Island Resort can now offer wedding couples a choice from four distinctive new themes to decorate their ceremony and reception in paradise.

The 4 styles offer a different look and feel to cater to all tastes. They are simple but beautiful and majority of the elements for the packages are Fiji Made or found on Malolo Lailai. The Fiji made items are via Rise Beyond the Reef – the items were hand made by artisans in the remote villages of Ba, Nadi (Viti Levu) and pocks of Macuata (Vanua Levu) where poverty is above Fiji’s national rural poverty rate. The items are not only authentic but contribute to families and communities who really need it and assist in passing on the knowledge of these traditional crafts to future generations.

The Bar

The most important item at any wedding is the bar! The Bar was made by the Plantation staff and is perfect for after ceremony refreshments or use at the Reception. The bar is styled with fresh tropical florals and perfect for cocktails, coconuts and champagne!Designed by Kylie of Bula Bride, these themes are natural, authentic and modern while still allowing you to be the star on the day.

Boho Romance

Whimsical and rustic with a relaxed vibe this style could set the theme for your entire wedding. Using earthy elements to create a simple but unique look and feel. Barefoot sandals, flowy wedding dresses and flowers crowns are perfect for this setup.

Tropical

This package is perfect for those who love the lush green of the tropics! This is also a great go to setup if you are not a fan of tropical flowers or the flowers you love aren’t in season. Green foliage is available all year round and provides a lush tropical feel to your day.

Colourful

Using colour in your day doesn’t mean it has to be bold and tacky, you can keep it elegant and romantic by using the tropical elements that Fiji has to offer to brighten up your day and make it feel unique.

Tribal

Incorporate the traditional into your Fijian wedding with natural warm browns and tapa highlighted by splashes of colour in the floral arrangements.

There are four types of flowers available:

• Red and pink gingers – available all year round

• Heliconias in dark orange & black, yellow & pink and light orange – also available all year round

• Dendrobium orchids in white, or shades of purple – in high demand and low supply between the months of July and October; the most popular flowers for weddings

• Pink anthurium – available all year round. There are other colour variations such as red, white, peach chocolate and green but these are not always available

• Frangipani is another popular option but is seasonal and weather dependent. Beautiful arrangements of this quintessentially tropical bloom look and smell great, however some florists discourage the use of these flowers as they have a tendency to wilt and brown quickly after picking.
